Narrowing the digital divide between men and women: A key to buid democracy in Mexico in times of pandemic
Resumen
The digital gap between men and women and its impacts is part of the historical context of disadvantage that women experience. Therefore, this study adds to how access and use of Information and Communication Technologies contributes to women’s ability to acquire knowledge to empower themselves in different sectors, allows an active participation in public affairs, demand or contribute to the solution of problems that affect them as well as all citizens and influence the government’s decisions, particularly in our global health pandemic. The inclusion of vulnerable groups, such as women, strengthens democracies, forces governments to improve their capacities so that they can achieve the pillars of electronic and open government, such as transparency and accountability.
