What’s next? The challenges of public management post-COVID-19

Abstract

The post-COVID-19 crisis presents a difficult forecast, which translates into colossal tasks and challenges that governments and their public administrations will have to face. These paper intends to provide some thoughts in relation to these challenges due to this health crisis that the entire world is suffering. This moment generates uncertainty and it is possible that governments will not have time and perhaps resources to plan actions for the immediate future.

Author Biography

María del Carmen Pardo

Ph.D. in history from Universidad Iberoamericana and has graduate studies from Paris II Univeristy. She has published a number of books, articles and book chapters featuring administrative modernization, decentralization, education civil service career, local government’s and autonomous entities. She is an associate professor at Centro de Estudios Económicos y Sociales (CIDE) and at INAP in Mexico and research professor at Centro de Estudios Internacionales in El Colegio de México. She is member of varios organizations and committies such as a level III member of Mexico’s National Reasearch Sistem III, Consejo Rector de Transparencia Mexicana, Colegio Nacional de Ciencias Políticas y Administración Pública, editorial board of Revista Gestión y Política Pública at CIDE, and of Economía y Administración, FCE, Journal of Public Governance and Policy at Instituto de Investigación en Política Pública y Gobierno, Universidad de Guadalajara; Revista Public Integrity, American Society for Public Administration, and has worked as advisor for international organizations like UN and The Centro Latinoamericano de Administración para el Desarrollo (CLAD).
